Expert, accessible acoustic engineering

Founded by sound engineer Andre Nieuwstadt, Nieuw.Co brings years of industry experience to every project.
From recording studios to bustling markets, we deliver custom sound treatments and acoustic composite products designed to fit your space – and your budget.

How do acoustic composites work?

Unlike basic single-layer materials like foam or plastic, our acoustic composites bring together the best of several worlds – combining lightness, durability, and sound performance to effectively combat noise, absorb unwanted frequencies, and create a pleasant environment.

Smart layering

Acoustic composites are made by combining materials like foam, fibres, and binders. Each layer plays a role – some absorb sound, others block or reflect it. The composition of Nieuw.Co composites are a closely guarded secret!

Built to absorb

Porous and fibrous layers trap sound waves inside, turning the energy into heat and reducing noise.

Noise-blocking power

Dense layers or double-layered setups (like plastic with foam) act as barriers. They reflect sound or make it harder for noise to pass through.

Echo diffusion

Uneven surfaces and varied materials help scatter sound waves instead of bouncing them directly back into a space. This softens echoes and clarifies overall acoustics.

Flexible and durable

The binder holds everything together. It adds flexibility, durability, and often helps dampen vibration.

Custom performance

How the fibres or particles are arranged – woven, scattered, or layered – changes how the material handles different types of noise. This allows for tailored, case-by-case acoustic solutions.

Case study: Huddle Education

Our acoustic treatment for Huddle Education’s recording studio

Making crisp, clear online learning a reality for South African students

How we solved significant acoustic challenges for e-learning platform, Huddle Education.

The problem

Disruptive traffic noise and an echoey room made recording lessons for school learners challenging.

Our solution

After thorough acoustic testing, nieuw.co installed the perfect blend of composite cushions and panels to absorb all the noise, balance frequencies, and create audio conducive to effective e-learning.

The result

After the installation, acoustic tests showed a marked difference in audio quality and clarity. We are delighted that our intervention has made a massive difference for the thousands of children who access Huddle’s e-learning material.
