Despite its shallow depth of only 80mm, the AO80 effectively absorbs sound down to the bass frequencies found in music, resulting in a room with balanced acoustics leading to better Acoustic Comfort. It scatters and diffuses upper frequencies so that the room does not sound small and claustrophobic. Most simple wall panels do not operate effectively across a wide enough frequency range and absorb too much of the upper frequencies compared to the lower frequencies, leading to rooms with unbalanced acoustics that sound small, dull and boomy.
Typical installation time is just 5 to 6 minutes if the installation has been planned, the site is ready, and the tools are to hand.
The AO80 is supplied complete and ready to install. In the box you will find:
- Wall panel absorber
- French cleat for wall mounting
- Fischer DUO Power wall plugs and screws.
- Double-sided tape to stabilise the panel.
- Installation instructions.
- Validation code to authenticate the panel and to register its ownership.
Since the AO80 is frameless and non-traditional, traditional testing methods could not be used to assess the performance of its five faces. Standard testing typically evaluates the acoustic performance of one face. The supplied performance figures are based on measurements taken before and after treatment, which were used to determine the effective absorption performance. If your modelling system does not accept absorption ratios greater than 1.0, normalise to 1.0 (but know that it is better than modelled) or increase the surface of the modelled element to include the side surface area. A scattering index of 0.5 to 0.7 should be used, depending on how the product is installed and proximity to other AO80 devices.

- This product is designed for portrait orientation only.
- The AO80 is supplied with a French cleat to simplify installation. An example of using a French cleat can be found here.
- A flat vertical surface with a clear space large enough for the AO80.
- Not entirely necessary, but a gap of 250mm all around is preferred, as it brings out the best from the AO80.
- A gap of at least 25mm at the top is required to mount the AO80 on the wall cleat.
- A drill with a 5mm drill bit that is suitable for the material to be drilled.
- Spirit level for levelling.
- #2 Pozidrive screw driver (#2 Philips will do, but is not ideal)
- A tape measure for positioning.
